Category: Organisations · Entity type: `org.company_name`

Company names are not personal data, but in deal documents, salary benchmarks, and incident reports they are often the most commercially sensitive thing on the page.

## How Redactly detects company names

- Detected by the model from the surrounding text.
- Spans are extended across contiguous word characters so suffixes such as Ltd or GmbH stay attached.
- Runs alongside identity.person_name without either suppressing the other.

## Why redact company names?

Customer lists and deal terms are among the most commonly leaked commercial secrets in support exports.

## Example request

```bash
curl -X POST https://api.bitbanger.in/v1/redact \
  -H "X-API-Key: rdct_your_key_here" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"text": "Customer: Northwind Trading Ltd, renewal value $48,000.", "style": "replace"}'
```

## FAQ

**Does Redactly redact company names automatically?**

Yes. Send text to the API and every detected type is redacted, including company names. To redact only this type, pass the value org.company_name in the entities filter. No training or configuration is required.

**What happens to company names after redaction?**

With style set to replace, each match becomes [org.company_name] — the entity type in square brackets. Setting style to mask replaces every character with a block character, and remove deletes the span entirely.
